Before getting the chance to coach at Wichita State and ETSU, Steve Forbes was a head coach at junior college Northwest Florida State.
That pipeline might have just lured ETSU’s new JUCO transfer Jeromy Rodrgiuez because that’s where he had been playing.
Rodriguez is a 6-foot-7, 225-pound forward that averaged 14.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 60 percent from the field. Last year, he helped Northwest Florida State to a No. 3 national ranking and a 29-5 record. Rodriguez was named the Panhandle Conference Player of the Year and is ranked as the 16th best junior college player in the country by JucoRecruiting.com.
Rodriguez made official visits to Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, New Mexico and Seton Hall before selecting ETSU. He joins guard Bo Hodges out of Maplewood High School as a part of the Bucs’ 2017-18 recruiting class.
