For the 11th straight season, ETSU men’s tennis have clinched an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
To do it, the Bucs had to win three matches in three days/ They beat conference foes Chattanooga, University of North Carolina- Greensboro and Mercer to capture the title.
The championship against Mercer came down to the final match with the score tied 3-3.
The match was on Wenceslas Albin’s shoulders and he came through. Albin dropped the first set, but fought back to win the second set 7-5 and then dominated the final set 6-0. That sealed the deal.
With the title, David Biosca was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, winning all six of his matches in the tournament in doubles and singles.
The selection show revealing who ETSU will play in the NCAA Tournament will be on Tuesday, May 2 at 5 p.m. It will be streamed on ncaa.com.
